The show recently revealed the latest group of islanders hoping to find romance in the sun and confirmed Maya Jama would return to take the reins once again.

Maya has been hosting the fan-favourite dating series since 2023. Her first season was won by Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan (who are now engaged – Maya must be a lucky charm!).

Her latest run was the All Stars version, which saw Molly Smith from season 6 and Tom Clare from season 9 take the crown.

Maya took over presenting duties from Laura Whitmore. Laura stepped down from hosting Love Island in 2022 after three seasons.

Much loved by viewers, here's everything you need to know about Love Island host Maya Jama.

Maya Jama is a TV presenter, radio presenter and DJ. Originally from Bristol, Maya moved to London in 2012 to pursue a career in media first as an actress, before moving into TV presenting and modelling.

Maya made her presenting debut as a teenager, presenting the weekly music video countdown on JumpOff TV, and later worked for Sky UK on TRACE Sports.

Since then, she's gone on to build quite an impressive CV.

She co-presented Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer alongside former footballer Peter Crouch and Alex Horne. She also presented the BBC Three make-up competition Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-Up Star, which she joined from season 3, though she was later replaced by model Leomie Anderson.

The 29-year-old also hosted MTV's True Love or True Lies, and she hosted the first season of The Circle with Alice Levine on Channel 4, before Emma Willis took over.

What has Maya said about Love Island 2024?

Much like the rest of us, Maya Jama is incredibly excited about Love Island's return for the 2024 summer season. She told ITV she's excited to help a new batch of singletons find love, but is "hoping for lots of fiery moments".

"I’m so excited to return to Mallorca this summer because it feels like we've had a big gap since the winter series," she said. "I'm ready for it, the fans are waiting, there's lots of anticipation and I can’t wait to meet this year's Islanders. Love Island is the official start of summer.

"I'll be honest, I'm hoping for drama. I want loads of love and happy couples at the end but I do want to be entertained so I'm hoping for lots of fiery moments."

She believes falling in love under a blazing sun is the best way to do so and is the reason Love Island works so well.

She said: "We all experience extra bursts of love when we are in the sun when we are relaxed and in a nice environment. Everyone is feeling sexy in their bikinis so I think it's the perfect formula to find a connection."
